I'm just coming back from this CalArts jazz class.
We pay zero dollars.
We basically pay them by being students, but in the end, they're really paying us. Both of the teachers are extremely talented and have a kind of a bestfriend personality complex that makes them extremely fun to talk to and work with.
I come out of that class feeling happier than usual every single time.
The teachers are both students at CalArts that have their own unique point of views in music. And since they're a bit younger than usual, the atmosphere isn't as tense as it would be in an actual college class.

In the end it's pretty much a jam session, where we throw ideas at each other and we try to translate it into music.

These are my two amazing teachers:

And then my newfound music-soulmates:

Adam, the little brother I never had.

Julia. I think your name is Julia.
I hope it is.
She's going to kill me if it isn't.
Well...we're even. No matter who's playing, I always end up having to do the improv.
Which I am not good at.
Thanks, Julia. I love you.

The bari-sax-guy (because I don't know his name) and Kevin.
Kevin and his awesome non-iPod. It's so small.
And then Adam...
I love them all. :]

Our equipment is pretty sweet. We've got the drums (even though we always have to bring in the hi-hat):

And then the rad piano. It's the best ever.

Haha. The piano.
Which reminds me that today one of the teachers (the guy with the beanie in the earlier pictures) told us of how piano strings could kill people.
I guess that the piano strings are under "tons of pressure" and one wrong twang of the string could make it snap. He told us that three of the strings flew out of the piano and hit the wall like five feet away and they had to be replaced.
I'm still wondering if that's true. I could clearly see that there were two shiny, new strings that stuck out from the rusty ones.

But the awesome thing was that it got a lot of the kids running in the opposite direction of the piano.
They asked me, "why don't you close the lid then?" Hahahaha.
I really have to remember that fact next time so that when people mess with the piano strings at my house I can scare them off.

My piano's going to kill you. :]
Watch out.

Talk to you soon.
